Learn how to use Yale Keyed Alike to make multiple locks work with one key, simplifying your entry system and reducing key clutter.

Quick Answer

Use Yale Keyed Alike to have multiple compatible Yale entry locks operate with a single key, simplifying access and reducing key management.

Why Keyed Alike Makes Sense

If you have several exterior doors, a keyed alike system means one key opens them all. This is convenient for daily use and reduces the number of keys you carry.

Yale Keyed Alike is a mechanical accessory designed for compatible Yale entry locks. It lets you match the keying of multiple locks so they share the same key.

Considerations Before You Start

Before ordering, confirm that your locks are compatible with Yale Keyed Alike. Not all Yale locks may accept this accessory, so check your model's specifications.

Also, decide whether you want all locks keyed alike or only some. You can key a subset of locks alike while keeping others separate for security.

Steps to Key Your Locks Alike

Identify Your Lock Models: Check the model numbers of all locks you want to key alike. Ensure they are compatible with Yale Keyed Alike. If unsure, consult the product listing or Yale support. Not all locks are compatible; verify before purchasing.
Order the Correct Yale Keyed Alike: Purchase the Yale Keyed Alike accessory, selecting the Function, Technology, and Finish options that match your existing locks. Double-check options to ensure a proper match.
Install the Accessory: Follow the manufacturer's instructions to replace the cylinder or keying mechanism in each lock with the Keyed Alike accessory. If you are not comfortable, hire a professional locksmith. Professional installation is recommended if you are not experienced with lock hardware.
Test All Locks: After installation, test each lock with the same key to ensure they all operate smoothly. If any lock fails, recheck the installation or consult support. Test all locks before relying on the system.
